If every home in America replaced just one incandescent light bulb with an ENERGY STAR qualified [fluorescent bulb], we would save enough energy every year to light 3 million homes and prevent greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those from about 800,000 cars.

This weekend, take a few minutes to replace your incandescent light bulbs with fluorescent ones. Here are a few good reasons to make the switch (and check out the governmental source link to learn more)
Reasons to switch to energy saving light bulbs:
1. Each fluorescent bulb will save you $6 a year on your electricity bill, which equals about $40 to $135 over its lifetime (source here).
2. A fluorescent bulb will last 10-15 times longer than an incandescent one. (source here).
3. 90% of the energy emitted by incandescent lights is heat; only 10% results in light (source here).
